Developed in collaboration with the National Youth Agency and Education and Training Standards Committee (ETS), this qualification is designed for all those engaged directly in youth work or through multi-agency work, such as social workers, police officers, emergency services, teachers and those who work within the youth service.

This qualification will enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills needed when working in youth work. There is one mandatory unit and several optional units allowing you to tailor the qualification to meet your needs. Progression to: employment, further education, higher education

Who is the Level 4 Certificate in Professional Development (Youth Work) for?

Anyone who works with youths: Social workers, police officers, emergency services, teachers and all those who work within the youth service

What you'll study (mandatory units)

Learners must achieve 15 credits in total to be awarded this qualification:

5 credits from the mandatory unit
10 credits from the optional units
Mandatory Unit: YW M1 Introduction to professional development (Youth Work) (F/650/5229)
Optional Units: 10 Credits required
YW O5: Digital youth work (D/650/5237) (Level 4 - 5 credits)
YW O6: Leadership and management in youth work (L/650/5240) (Level 4 – 5 credits)
YW O13: Youth work and Faith (H/650/5248) (Level 4 – 5 credits)
YW O19: Youth work approaches to violence, gangs and exploitation (A/650/5254) (Level 4 – 5 credits)

(At least 10 credits must be achieved at Level 4 or above)
